Typhlotic

Reflecting on the past year, mainstream media has been at the centre of quite a lot of controversies and rightly so, with all the biased, manipulative information being put out there by them. A few of those can be found here.

And in this age of laziness and devil-may-care attitude, you do not know, you do not see past a screen or investigate the veracity of the information you are being force-fed. Not to add to all that the media is hiding or trying to hide from you. The veils of #trending stories on media, be it classic or social, hide a sinister picture, one that you common man, do not want to see.

Why? Because unconsciously you know what it is, but you cannot face it (selfishness, weakness, etc) so you turn away. The simple solution. 2014 was a year where some truths (too late to enumerate) came to light. Be it locally or internationally, there were some ripples in the multiple Establishments around. With net neutrality being endorsed by several Establishments, the need for transparency is on the rise. Laws are being passed for secrecy (recent example: UK law for the royal family following #OpDeathEaters) for only processed and filtered information to make it to you. Understand this, the source of all misunderstandings on your flawed point of views on matters being shoved down your throat is due to information manipulation. If it is too complicated, turn away. We are living in a world where nothing matters but only one and one's immediate surroundings. If it does not affect you directly, who gives a fuck?

As early as today, lack of mainstream media coverage of the #ChapelHillShooting, was met with outrage on social media and then became a trending story, CNN having an interesting approach to it. As for my facebook newsfeed? The same people rightfully condemning and jumping to change their profile pictures after the abhorrent attack on Charlie Hebdo's office in Paris, were silent. The issue, as selfless as it sounds, is that everyone is too busy living their own pathetic lives, and to be honest, the "I've got enough problems o' my own." excuse comes in as well.

In the grand scheme of things, only together one can make a real difference. And that is by caring. By having a heart in this ruthless data-driven age of screens and displays and fake news. Dare a bit more. Open your mind, and heart. Be smart. Be fair. Be a better you. But still: Fuck mainstream media.

Entr'acte

I have written her words of gold
From a broken heart of old

Made of phrases to reflect the dither
Of letters gathered and strung together

Through conversations in the twilight
And laughs on a wintery night

One seeking another in flight
But not yet, not quite

Hers yet to trust in mine
And mine waiting for a sign

So until then
I'll stem the flow of this pen
