Nix

For years, I have tried to understand

The pillars on which this fucked society stands

Humans, control, wars and bloodied hands

The killing of the lands & deeds inhuman

Oh the women looking for their freedom’s lumen

Battered, raped and killed by the insecure boogeymen

Let’s not forget the most colourful of our specimen

Who try as hard to just be, but cannot even

We’ve forced an image of what makes a man,

And readily sacrificed the futures of our children

There is no compassion in the basic curriculum

We’ve battered our selves & them glum, dumb and numb

All for the chase of control, status and income

All to maintain a broken & skewed system

We’ve perverted the use of our collective wisdom

Succumbed to every flavor & crumb of violence

To stifle our own grandstand end, into silence

But there is no defiance, no other outcome…

In legacy’s lens, than a big fat zero-sum

And Death’s eternal, irrefutable hum

Mirare

And what will you do,
When the going gets tough;
When life's seas get rough;
When the threat of Death
Or worse befalls you?

Who will you blame?
Without any shame
Anything, anyone, but you.
Fate & circumstances,
Family and acquaintances,

God, Satan, and their minions
Excuses in the millions
Just not to stare in that mirror
Oh the lies, the horror!
To even remotely consider

That you're in error
To realise... you're a sinner.

2016 Retrumpspective

2016 was horrible. If ever there was a retrospective done, the things that went wrong and needed to be fixed, would require a tremendous amount of effort from us all.
2016 was a reverberating slap in the face of the progressives who just stay in front of their device and are furiously typing their valuable opinions as comments on Facebook. That is not how you make a stand. Action needs to follow. And this is what we need to talk about.

With the amazing rise of certain groundbreaking research, great products came to life this year: Tesla Solar Panels, LEAF, Microsoft Surface Studio, PeeWorld VR, amongst others. These products are presented by one person usually. Problem is: everyone thinks that person was the guy who "invented"  the product in question and therefore focus is misplaced. More importantly, credit is wrongly given and aspirations are built on the wrong motivation. For a product to be successful, its vision needs to be shared across a majority or all of the people involved in its creation (and adoption).

Society has been conditioning us to believe in our individuality and uniqueness, and also to be afraid of the situations and behaviours that we do not comprehend. Oldest rule in the book: "Divide and conquer". As an individual, we can discover our own talents, strengths and weaknesses and hone those to move forward. But is moving forward really that important if you move forward alone? Is this a war where you need to stand victorious on a conical pile of corpses?

As one person, your chance of bringing about a globally significant change is 'slim' and I use the word loosely here. Plus, it is in those high up that societal pyramid (goverment and/or private sector) hands' that you play in, when you do start acting as a lone wolf. You are not significant. Your views do not matter as a singular person. However, to maybe give a bit more of a fight, you can assemble/join a collective/team representing your views that would have a bit more weight in the proverbial scales. The collective consciousness, the hivemind, is probably the only way, as a population in a so-called democracy, that you have to pressure and make your voice heard to those having the decisional power. Also, seek to understand things and situations before you do judge it by its (mainstream media's) cover,  do a nice gesture for or make friends with people you never would have approached. Look at what Bernie and his team brought about: an eye-opening revolution against the fucked-up system made for the powerful. Same thing happening with the young politicians in China.

Austerity is clutching at the last straws of how to keep control throughout the world, we've seen this wave taking over globally. All the dictators, the fucked up systems working only for those at the top, the blatant corruption, trying to impose as many laws to restrict and restrain. But, if we get together, accepting that we are one, maybe we have a chance. Sometimes, good things happen when you take a leap of faith.

So leave those keyboards and screens. Do something tangible. Get people together. Hear their issues. See if you find a common ground to make your voice heard as a collective. For the fight is just beginning.

Veneer

Aimlessly erring
A life without bearing

Knifing, wolfing, gulping
Instead of living
Moments
Blinded by societal currents

Content of not knowing
Not wondering
If you're a human, doing
rather than a human, being?

Not realising you are fusing
With the mask you're wearing

And so the mask you will become
Just another lost in the maelstrom

Putrefied

Love is dead
So are our hearts

Bayoneted
And broken parts

A masquerade
For momentary sparkle

Of paid trade
For needs carnal

That bond eternal
So decayed

By a society infernal
Made into the grandest charade

Veto

Let's talk of politics
Drama worthy of Oscar flicks

Of the conniving and corrupt
Pretending to not be inept

One day fervent liberal,
The next die-hard conservative

Turncoats waiting to deceive
From the trivial to visceral

But who am I to be critical,
Of my fellow criminal?

Aeon

A few words on Age
That invisible cage

Time's ineludible fortress
Humanity's certain arrest

That which they seek to master
Courting disaster

Yet celebrating every year
As the scythe inches closer

Trying to turn back the page
Exhuming Nature's rage

Oblivious
But I digress...

Those were the words on Age
Humanity's definite phage

N/A

There are no hidden meanings
To these useless musings

There is nothing to understand
From the faceless words being penned

Zilch
Filch

Yet you keep on reading
And the Wordsmith keeps on stringing

Rhyme after rhyme
This verbal ladder you climb

Urging you to find
This mime's cranial slime

And you seek to comprehend
The source of this scend

Not grasping that this is pointless
Endless...

Thanks to Percy for ensuring that my pointlessness was not senseless.

Sylph

O' fleeting things of the past
None that time cannot outlast

Ecstatic, melancholic and tragic
A wish, tad too toxic

For it to have stayed what it was
Abay of cosmic laws

Swish of a wand magic
Satisfying the eternal neurotic

Rewiring of the Gears' forecast
At the behest of this iconoclast

Caught in the temporal jaws
Too many ignorant squaws

Locked in the Master's jigsaw
Clutching at a spectral straw

Murder I wrote.

Murder. Ever thought about it? A child crying incessantly on a 14 hour flight, that girl who broke your heart, the stranger who beat you at something you are good at, an acquaintance who just makes your blood boil, that lecturer who wrongfully failed you or that colleague who never does his job - a few of the possible triggers to make you go apeshit on that motherfucker. Generally, in neuroscience jargon, the orbital cortex (that's the front part of the brain behind the eyes) is thought to be responsible for ethical behaviour and solving moral epiphanies along with impulse control. While this is not the whole picture - as there is some weird relationship with the amygdala as well - people with low activity in the orbital cortex are sociopaths. They even have identified the guilty gene - known as the MAO-A (monoamine oxidase A) gene/warrior gene. Obviously . This is not a bloody scientific article so let me get back on track and start with the hocus pocus my brain is coming up with right now.
While so much has happened and there is so much scientific knowledge out there concerning this subject, I have a few fucked up theories I would like to propose and ask you to consider. Let me state that the warrior gene is present in everyone, only the dysfunctional variant is the one that is 'dangerous'.

1. What if: the polymorphic nature of the MAO-A gene could make it go from functional to dysfunctional?
2. What if: on the first 'taste' of blood, this gene were to develop an addiction to it, demanding more and more?
3. What if: those persons with the dysfunctional variant were to be developed in super soldiers?
4. What if: the warrior gene was to be successfully grafted in already aggressive beasts like koalas (they look cute but they are plotting for murder while chewing on eucalyptus, mind you)?

Ask yourself and be honest, if you had to kill someone (no names), what would be your Modus Operandi? Would you just theorise about it? What is your tolerance threshold before you snap? Your views.

Meanwhile, chickens, go watch Dexter, Criminal Minds or Mentalist.
