Nix

For years, I have tried to understand

The pillars on which this fucked society stands

Humans, control, wars and bloodied hands

The killing of the lands & deeds inhuman

Oh the women looking for their freedom’s lumen

Battered, raped and killed by the insecure boogeymen

Let’s not forget the most colourful of our specimen

Who try as hard to just be, but cannot even

We’ve forced an image of what makes a man,

And readily sacrificed the futures of our children

There is no compassion in the basic curriculum

We’ve battered our selves & them glum, dumb and numb

All for the chase of control, status and income

All to maintain a broken & skewed system

We’ve perverted the use of our collective wisdom

Succumbed to every flavor & crumb of violence

To stifle our own grandstand end, into silence

But there is no defiance, no other outcome…

In legacy’s lens, than a big fat zero-sum

And Death’s eternal, irrefutable hum

Moil

We did not choose to live a life on hard mode

Vanguard from our backyard, to being stowed

Tattered, patches and holes

Do hide the thinning soles

Of the poor man’s walk through these halls,

Our contributions to the tyrants’ decked walls

We moved on from these stalls

And kept plowing towards our goals

But with an ever-growing horizon

Our dreams are always in the beyond

Yet, our ever-grinding tale of 50s blues

Is no crinkle in the cycle of breaking news

Nonetheless, we believe in what we do

Enough to keep on till the breakthrough

S.o.S. 2021

What an age we are living in, where every little good that happens is a highlight instead of being the norm. It says a lot of the amount of troubles we all have to face every single day.

Some have more troubles to face than others, and that is a problem of the way society has been built over the last few decades - which most of us are aware of. We are all working towards making it better in our own way, prioritising and tackling the topics that matter to each one of us individually.

There are a lot of things to fix in this current world we are living in. Some might say too many even. But we are all defending something close to our heart, even those who appear to be opposing whatever we are trying to fight for.

Whether you are at the lowest end of the pyramid or at the top, we are all responsible for the current state of things.

What matters is your thought process behind each decision you make, who you are working for and what are you working towards, and how conscious you are of the impact - both negative and positive - of any decision you make when you do have the opportunity to do so. Studies say the regular adult makes 35 000 choices a day.

So, of course you will make mistakes, this is a trait of being human, and we have multiple frameworks to ensure you do not keep going on committing mistakes, but most mistakes you can repent for, be it through the framework (law being one of them) or outside of it.

Outside of the framework though, it comes down to your sense of responsibility, your moral compass, your courage to look back, your willingness to accept criticism and input from other parties - to evaluate how you should move ahead to ensure you do not commit such a mistake again. Even from the darkest corners of your life, you can bounce back and be an inspiration to others e.g. literary works from prisoners.

That's being agile in your life, that's accepting that you are a continuous work in progress, iterating not towards perfection, but rather making the world a better place for whoever inherits it after you, so they still understand the work that still has to be done and how they can help, rather than them just sitting back and enjoying the privilege they have, or worse, repeating your mistake in a worse way.

This sense of responsibility is your biggest legacy that you can leave your progeny, protégés and the generations to come.
With a pandemic about, a host of inequality issues, and a system based on punishment and cancellation rather than education, restoration and correction, it is easy to be overwhelmed by everything and wear blinkers.

It is normal to let your genetic survival instincts prevail so you can focus on your own issues and stay in your echo chamber, but maybe reach out to someone with different views than yours, hear their arguments, understand them with an open heart. Not an open mind. See the human first. Imagine a bit, what if it were your loved one instead of that stranger.
Hack your own cognitive biases, let your heart bloom in the face of the human in front of you.

Because right now, and for a better future, that's what the world needs the most.

Heart.

Deracinate

Governance is like gardening

But when the powers that be take off their gloves

The ones that need protecting, keep suffering

Suited ravens and crows devouring the bleeding doves

The fragile growing stems and shoots

Which make up our Nation, our People

Rage into thorns instead of fruits

To the poisoners on the steeple

Who were put on there to defend their freedom

Now themselves the Nation's demons

Silencing the masses's voices without any reason

Illegally covering their own treason

It comes down to the citizens themselves

To descend from their shelves

To repel and oust the incompetent cartel

To use their intel and yell for Liberty's bell

For this is the way we honour our brave ancestors,

Our sons, daughters and their futures

By standing up and saying no to going astray

Maybe, just maybe one blessed day,

We truly may

Celebrate our Independence Day

Odium

A life brought in this ratrace
Fruit of a vase rife with thrace,
Destitute thought and grace

A soul lovingly embraced
But a hole full of distaste
What is it that cannot be effaced?

A blazing riot in this carcase
Never ready, never braced
An ever empty vase

A growing clot pounding a deep bass
This world a fucking disgrace
Only a shitty marketplace

A matter of birthplace, color and race
Someone give it some streptokinase
Or a gun to save some face

A body bludgeoned by a mace
Again and again, a faster pace
This interface of too many a poker face

A must for the lust to get to third base
Social, cyber, all a waste of space
Let the heart under, so it finds solace

Mirare

And what will you do,
When the going gets tough;
When life's seas get rough;
When the threat of Death
Or worse befalls you?

Who will you blame?
Without any shame
Anything, anyone, but you.
Fate & circumstances,
Family and acquaintances,

God, Satan, and their minions
Excuses in the millions
Just not to stare in that mirror
Oh the lies, the horror!
To even remotely consider

That you're in error
To realise... you're a sinner.

万歳

First came gender
Then came colour
And after came religion
One after the other
Another cut, another incision

Now with every choice,
You affirm your individuality
Fight for a voice
Yet, eroding solidarity

Why do you focus so much
On the superfluous?
You silently judge
While keeping a grudge

And forget the most important
The common factors lying dormant
Playing in the warmongers' hands
No one taking a stand

I beg of you please
Put your own soul at ease
Fight not coz of things that divide us
But rather those that unite us

Don't be a minus
When you can be a plus

Incandescent

Lift up your head
Walk on in the storm

Succumb not to the dread
Be, don't conform

For that would kill you
Your identity, individuality

Don't transform, push through
Shred the pressure of community

That sadistic cage so red
So many pretty souls bled

Shine on, spread those wings
Show off your unique zing

Coz if you're subdued or prude
You're gonna get screwed

Sinusoid

Love is so ethereal
But is the most real

It makes you willingly fall
And then breaks you whole

When the key ones leave
A barren heart up your sleeve

Once more from the start
All the time in vain trying

And never properly mending
A gruesome mosaic of a heart

Only made when bonds break apart
Elevating a simple organ to art

2016 Retrumpspective

2016 was horrible. If ever there was a retrospective done, the things that went wrong and needed to be fixed, would require a tremendous amount of effort from us all.
2016 was a reverberating slap in the face of the progressives who just stay in front of their device and are furiously typing their valuable opinions as comments on Facebook. That is not how you make a stand. Action needs to follow. And this is what we need to talk about.

With the amazing rise of certain groundbreaking research, great products came to life this year: Tesla Solar Panels, LEAF, Microsoft Surface Studio, PeeWorld VR, amongst others. These products are presented by one person usually. Problem is: everyone thinks that person was the guy who "invented"  the product in question and therefore focus is misplaced. More importantly, credit is wrongly given and aspirations are built on the wrong motivation. For a product to be successful, its vision needs to be shared across a majority or all of the people involved in its creation (and adoption).

Society has been conditioning us to believe in our individuality and uniqueness, and also to be afraid of the situations and behaviours that we do not comprehend. Oldest rule in the book: "Divide and conquer". As an individual, we can discover our own talents, strengths and weaknesses and hone those to move forward. But is moving forward really that important if you move forward alone? Is this a war where you need to stand victorious on a conical pile of corpses?

As one person, your chance of bringing about a globally significant change is 'slim' and I use the word loosely here. Plus, it is in those high up that societal pyramid (goverment and/or private sector) hands' that you play in, when you do start acting as a lone wolf. You are not significant. Your views do not matter as a singular person. However, to maybe give a bit more of a fight, you can assemble/join a collective/team representing your views that would have a bit more weight in the proverbial scales. The collective consciousness, the hivemind, is probably the only way, as a population in a so-called democracy, that you have to pressure and make your voice heard to those having the decisional power. Also, seek to understand things and situations before you do judge it by its (mainstream media's) cover,  do a nice gesture for or make friends with people you never would have approached. Look at what Bernie and his team brought about: an eye-opening revolution against the fucked-up system made for the powerful. Same thing happening with the young politicians in China.

Austerity is clutching at the last straws of how to keep control throughout the world, we've seen this wave taking over globally. All the dictators, the fucked up systems working only for those at the top, the blatant corruption, trying to impose as many laws to restrict and restrain. But, if we get together, accepting that we are one, maybe we have a chance. Sometimes, good things happen when you take a leap of faith.

So leave those keyboards and screens. Do something tangible. Get people together. Hear their issues. See if you find a common ground to make your voice heard as a collective. For the fight is just beginning.

Opus

Have a peek, a deep look
At a love held for the book

The smell of a new one
An olfactory frenzy to fan

The flipping of pages
Gripping the readers

While they discover
The next stages

Be it a graphic novel
Or literary debacle

All of them have souls
The reader's holy scrolls

Each one is a gospel
And I am the only apostle

XX

Thank you

To the first one
An inspiration
For the foundation

To the one that got away
For you I silently pray
That happiness always be abay

Fuck you

To the one that broke me
For preferring the many
For your beastly cruelty

To the ones that used me
The boozy, smoky and foxy
For the snap back to reality

Bless you

To the two who matter
My sister and mother
A gentleman's eternal ladder

And lastly The One
Second to none
Who'll finally bind this son

Hysteria

Let's talk about humour, the ideal armor
For things perfect, and situations abject

Such a godlike spectrum, the fulcrum
Like the wife and your sexlife

Where sometimes the droll or anecdotal
Overlaps with the situational or farcical

As Kenny's continuous deaths
We love the morbid and the blue

Like we currently do with Seth
And the dry flavour shining through

But we do miss Franklin's wit
As many try to emulate a bit

We still have Kev for the hyperbolic
And Will for the sophomoric

Both Jimmys are the masters of the parodic
While the first is a touch better in ironic

Then we have Chris with the mordant
That got everyone a bit discordant

Let's not forget about highbrow
Where we find Parker at its prow

And a last mention for good ol' slapstick
Where fake acting gives us a LOL kick

May you find the variety you need
From the shit I just made you read

Kenny = Character who dies constantly in South Park
Seth = Seth McFarlane
Franklin = Benjamin Franklin
Kev = Kevin Hart
Will = Will Ferrell
2 Jimmys = Jimmy Kimmel & Jimmy Fallon
Chris = Chris Rock
Parker = Dorothy Parker

Denouement

We're all searching
Something everlasting

I looked at Life
Its peaks and troughs

I felt Happiness
Twas too high a key

I caressed Sadness
Twas too low a wee

I tasted Anger
Twas too addictive

I wooed Love
Twas too punitive

So I gave in to Death
Found it constant

Made it a friend
Met a beautiful end

Shangri-La

If only we gave love a chance
And let it bloom for once

Into joy for all humanity
Into smiles for us and thee

If only we gave peace a real go
And clearly told the warmongers "No!"

 "Leave your bombs and guns
Choose serenity and hold our hands"

Maybe, just maybe then
We could be one brethren

No more puppet-masters
 No more political leaders

Pulling the strings
 From their thrones, like kings

No more violated women
No more dead children

No more distorted beliefs
No more vengeful grief

Only the olive branch and the dove
Carrying the message of one love

Maybe, just maybe then
Lennon would finally be zen

Veneer

Aimlessly erring
A life without bearing

Knifing, wolfing, gulping
Instead of living
Moments
Blinded by societal currents

Content of not knowing
Not wondering
If you're a human, doing
rather than a human, being?

Not realising you are fusing
With the mask you're wearing

And so the mask you will become
Just another lost in the maelstrom

Putrefied

Love is dead
So are our hearts

Bayoneted
And broken parts

A masquerade
For momentary sparkle

Of paid trade
For needs carnal

That bond eternal
So decayed

By a society infernal
Made into the grandest charade

Prime

Numbers are Life's embers
Sometimes complex, irrational

The next, simple and real
Just plain ol' integers

Root of all physics
Building blocks of the matrix

Composing parallel rhythms
A symphony of logarithms

Xs, Ys and Zs
So many hybrid theories

Of functions and dimensions
Subject to transformations

Spawning Pi and Phi
Unending digits without limits

A new logic to apply,
To the binaries hiding in bits

Numbers are my embers
The reason my soul blazes

Thanks to T-girl for the inspiration!

Aeon

A few words on Age
That invisible cage

Time's ineludible fortress
Humanity's certain arrest

That which they seek to master
Courting disaster

Yet celebrating every year
As the scythe inches closer

Trying to turn back the page
Exhuming Nature's rage

Oblivious
But I digress...

Those were the words on Age
Humanity's definite phage

Limos

A soul singing the blues
Seeking to be enthused

Oh just to find an excuse
Not to be on the snooze

A brain thinking in twos
Wishing to be perused

Oh just a few thoughts to bemuse
From any foreign cranial igloos

A heart hungry for a muse
Yearning to be diffused

Oh just a fresh feeling to infuse
In this haven of hedonic taboos
